Dedicated exclusively to the medium of paper and to the possibilities it offers, Papier is one of the largest fairs of its kind in North America. The event is a key driver for Canadian contemporary art, as well as a unique meeting ground for the greater public, enthusiasts and visual arts professionals alike.
Karine Vanasse is a contemporary art collector and enthusiast who has been promoting the event since 2014 with passion and eloquence. The Quebec native is an acclaimed actress and producer and is well known in Canada and internationally.
” Papier makes contemporary art accessible to all. The effect is instantaneous. And moving. One of the strengths of this event is the way it encourages people of all ages and from different walks of life to gather and share their passion for art. There is a palpable feeling of openness and generosity. “
Laurent Duvernay-Tardif is an offensive lineman for the Kansas City Chiefs who is pursuing medical studies at McGill University. The young football player is a great lover of contemporary art.
” In many respects, the worlds of art and sports are quite similar, particularly when it comes to the dedicated folks behind the scenes. Papier is an incredible opportunity to meet and talk to fascinating gallerists, serious collectors and talented artists. It is also a chance to buy affordable works. I’ve discovered a number of favourite artists through the fair, and it’s changed the way I look at art. “
Éric Bujold will once again be serving as honorary president of the Papier Art Fair. Mr. Bujold, President of the National Bank Private Banking 1859, is very active in the art community, namely as a board member of the Musée d’art contemporain de Montréal and of the Business for the Arts organization.
“ Montreal is a dynamic, cosmopolitan, innovative city, and art is an integral part of our shared heritage. National Bank is proud to partner with Papier to foster the growth of the arts community here and across Canada. We are both committed to creating the conditions for art to thrive, to recognizing our artists, and to sharing our passion with our many visitors. “
